Nursery (Age 2+ to 4)
Each child has a keyworker who is responsible for his/her settling. The positive relationship between the child and the keyworker ensures that the each child feel secure and comfortable in the setting. And also the practitioners make home visits to understand and get to know the environment the children come from and their preferred way of playing and learning.
The Baseline is the initial record of the level of involvement and well - being of the child during the first weeks when he/she joined SCPS. It is the understanding and foundation on which the Keyworker starts building up, planning and catering for each child. The observations, assessment and planning are kept on going to respond to each child’s emerging needs and interests. We ensure that each area of learning and development of the EYFS is implemented through a mix of weekly adult-led planning, and child-initiated activities relating to the Theme of the Term. The weekly plans which take into consideration the three characteristics of learning of each child enable learning through purposeful play with a variety of resources.
Phonics are initiated as early as when the children are in Nursery. The children start learning to recognise and sound the letters in their names. They also do mark making for the letters.
